For brands, there is no fixed date for releasing a resort collection. The line generally arrives between the fall/winter and spring/summer seasons, and each brand sets its own timing. Leading luxury houses stage resort shows in destinations around the world, while most brands present the collection as a lookbook.
Across the Resort 2027 collections, the larger brands have made concessions to the market, choosing New York and Los Angeles—where sales have been stronger—to present their designs. The rest have largely taken a pragmatic approach as well, designing for a range of occasions. Taken together, this season’s resort releases point to eight trends worth watching.
Vol. 1 / Vacation Dresses

The vacation dress is a must-have in every resort collection, and Resort 2027 is no exception. Design-wise, most are trimmed with fringe, lace, and ruffles, cut in relaxed silhouettes that bring the ease and fluidity expected of a holiday wardrobe. The colors are bright and varied, matching the carefree mood of a getaway.
Vol. 2 / White Shirts

The white shirt is a wardrobe essential in any season, though each season updates it in a different way. In the Resort 2027 collections, white shirts place more emphasis on silhouette and cut, with plenty of decorative details: cutouts, reworked collars, knot buttons, and more. They can be worn layered or on their own.
Vol. 3 / Leather Jackets

Cool, statement leather jackets were favored by many brands. Vintage-inspired, distressed, and oversized styles appeared in abundance, paired with skirts or trousers for a hard-soft contrast. For resort travel, leather also offers some warmth.
Vol. 4 / Suits

The suit was another classic that brands embraced. Like the white shirt mentioned above, it is a wardrobe staple. Designed for different occasions, suits spanned business, vintage, and casual styles, allowing the look to move beyond a single piece and opening up more ways to wear it.
Vol. 5 / Eveningwear

Life needs a sense of occasion, whether for travel and vacation or everyday social commitments, and eveningwear was a key category for brands. This season offered relatively formal, voluminous gowns, lavish embellished gowns, and elegant minimalist gowns, covering occasions with different dress codes.
Vol. 6 / Outdoor and Activewear

Outdoor and active-inspired design was just as important. Outdoor jackets, sporty outerwear, trench coats, functional jackets, swimwear, and running gear came together in a variety of outdoor looks to meet everyday or vacation activewear needs.
Vol. 7 / Florals

On the decorative front, flowers drawn from nature are a favorite element for brands, usually in the form of prints and three-dimensional florals applied to dresses to express a romantic style. Florals can be used not only in design but also as accessories for going out or props for photos—an ideal way to lift the mood of a look.
Vol. 8 / Lace

On the design front, lace was the material brands turned to most this season. Lace is often placed at the neckline and hem of dresses or tops, used in cutout details on the skirt, or used as the main fabric. It is light, breathable, and with a sensual edge.
